Danny Kaufman is a Principal Scientist at Adobe based in Seattle, WA. Previously he was a post-doctoral researcher at Columbia University working with Prof. Eitan Grinspun, and before that completed his PhD work at the University of British Columbia advised by Prof. Dinesh Pai. Danny’s research focuses on developing new models and algorithms for expressive, predictive, and reliable physical simulation, numerical optimization, geometry processing, animation and design. These methods enable a broad span of applications -- ranging from the design of 3D shapes, materials and mechanisms to the live-broadcast animation of performed cartoons (awarded a 2020 Engineering Emmy).
